Aphrodisiac
Substances ingested or rubbed on the body to arouse or intensify sexual desire. Certain foods, drinks, herbs, roots, spices and drugs have been thought to have special properties to enhance a sexual encounter. Most aphrodisiacs are typically ingested prior to lovemaking. Two of the most widely available and commonly used aphrodisiacs are alcohol and marijuana. Categorized as nervous system depressants they nonetheless create a state of relaxation, ease and sometimes euphoria (with possible side-effects of drowsiness and inability to sustain an erection). Spanish Fly is one aphrodisiac in common legend, used to "heat up" a woman's interest in intercourse. The preparation, made from crushed beetles, creates a warm sensation by irritating the urinary tract. Oysters, ground rhinoceros horn, ginseng, and chocolate are a few other ingestibles believed to intensify arousal and tactile stimulation during sex.

| Experienced humans agree that love is the best aphrodisiac of all. Makes sense, since the word itself is named in honor of Aphrodite, the Greek Goddess of Love. When love is involved, the brain's own “chemistry set” provides the most intoxicating sensual enhancement of all. If you’d like to tinker with the chemistry of love, champagne is a good choice. Universally thought of as a delightful aphrodisiac, it also carries a message of celebration in modern culture. If you want to jazz up your life with an aphrodisiac today, buy a good bottle of champagne (the best you can afford), and two new glasses. Drink the bottle with someone you love. After every sip, tell your lover something you adore about them. By the end of the bottle (or much likely sooner) you will be all over each other. Mutual appreciation is always a turn-on, and it's free! |
